How to replace the Droid Eris’ broken screen/digitizer

Things you will need:

A spudger or 2, a teeny tiny phillips screwdriver, a teeny tiny torx screw driver, the broken phone, krazy glue, a new screen/digitizer, and patience.

Shut phone off, remove battery cover and take out battery. Remove the 4 T5 screws in each of the corners then separate the back cover. Remove the 4 philips screws from the board.

There are 3 ribbon cables, one on the right side on top of the main board, the second is in between the main board and the copper covering and the third connects the LCD to the main board. GENTLY detach the ribbons (I removed the copper plate to get to one, it’s easier that way).

Once all screws and ribbons removed, take your spudger and slowly peel back the LCD (its stuck with double sided tape.)

Remove all the broken glass from the frame. I covered mine in packing tape so the shards don’t go everywhere, a screen protector would be best for this.

After all the glass has been removed, clean off the double sided tape from the frame. You can carefully use goo gone, I just scraped it off.

Almost there! Now take the krazy glue, and apply it neatly to the frame (in small amounts) where the double sided tape was. Using too much will get it all over the frame and new glass, and that stuff is permanent. Gently and carefully lay your new screen on the frame, be sure to feed the ribbon through the hole (you may want to do that before using the glue). Let dry 3-5 minutes. Follow all the dis-assembly steps in reverse order, and Voila! good as new πŸ™‚

No idea why the last photo smooshed on upload :\

Steampunck pocketwatch ftw!

Took a month or so to get here from Hong Kong, but so work the wait for only $8 (:

Side note: I’m blogging from my phone, and it auto-corrected “ftw” from “fwt”. I’m so glad my phone knows me (:

Don't forget your towel!

I couldn’t think of a good title for this post, so I’m just going with a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy reference. Kinda appropriate since my new phone is a Galaxy S device…get it? (Hint: they both have Galaxy in the title).

Anywho….Life has been pretty boring. Switched from my iPhone to the Android based Samsung Captivate, my headaches have returned thanks to a minor fender-bender, and the birds are behaving.

I’ve been working on a few crafts, and have been piecing together my ultimate Steampunk outfit. Rather than the normal monotone greys/browns you normally see, mine is bright and colorful! Here’s what I have so far (sorry for the bad lighting and crappy photo quality, my good camera is dead):

The green shirt s just an idea, as it is waaaaay to big (it’s Toney’s shirt). The 2 hats I made, and I fixed the 2 skirts together to be one πŸ™‚ Shoes were only $10 at the thrift store! πŸ˜€

How to mail a coconut

Did you know you can mail a coconut without any packaging? Just label the shell and put postage on it! Bit more difficult with mine, as the shell wasn’t shaved and the stickers didn’t want to sick…Addresses removed so nobody get stalked πŸ˜‰

I just taped all around it and stuck the postage and labels on the tape πŸ˜€

My mom seemed to enjoy the random coconut showing up ^_^

Busy Busy!

Been so busy lately I have forgotten to update! Shame on me 😦

I really don’t have much to say at this point. Work. Scarborough. Birds.

More work. Etc… It’s an endless cycle really πŸ™‚

I’ve been working on my ASL and Spanish. It’s amazing how much of

the 11 yeas of Spanish I retained πŸ™‚ ASL is a bit more difficult, as I have

never really tried learning before now.

Scarborough is fun, as always. Got a new bodice and dress. DK got a

new leather doublet and shirt. I’m also throwing together a Steampunk

outfit for A-kon this year. I’ll post Β more details on that outfit later (with

I am Ninja, hear me rawr!

Most epic weekend at Scarborough EVER! I was only a ninja for the first half of Saturday, and people were still talking about it on Sunday. Easily made my day.

In other news, I am feeling fairly confident in my geek skills. Thomas Wood Pyrojuggler was having an issue with his laptop and I fixed it. He upgraded from Vista to 7 and his DVD drive disappeared. It was a simple registry issue. Delete the Upper/Lower filters, reboot, ta-da!

Also discovered that Meredith (the Unicorn Strings Psaltery lady) is incredibly intelligent. I spent pretty much all day Sunday hanging out with her at the Psaltery booth (by the way, it’s pronounced salt-er-ee), and there was never a lull in the conversation (in-between customers of course).
